About

Hello! My name is Nicole Tucker and I'm an art teacher and practicing artist in Central Pennsylvania. This is my 13th year teaching art. I may come home with paint on my clothes and glue in my hair but I would not change it for the world. Being an art teacher is the best!

Making jewelry has been a part of my life since I was in middle school. Taking jewelry and business classes as a high schooler put me on a path into the jewelry industry that I am still pursuing today with the same sense of excitement.

I grew up in Clinton County and graduated from Central Mountain High School.  I decided early on that I wanted to pursue the arts and went to Kutztown University to pursue Fine Metals and Art Education.  After graduating, I spent five years teaching elementary art. I then moved to Bellefonte Area Middle School  where I have been for the past 7 years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art.  Recently I completed my Masters in Art Education at Penn State University with a focus on inclusion and social justice art.

As a lifelong learner I continue to seek out ways to improve and engage in professional settings.  Last year I presented Empowering Students to Find Their Voice Through Art Activism at the 2019 PAEA Conference.

I was part of a team consulting with Dr. Marilyn Stewart, Senior Writer at Davis Art Publications and provided student work for the new Middle School Studio Experiences textbook series.

When I'm not at school, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, go kayaking, cook using fresh ingredients from our garden and of course make art in my studio. Mr. Tucker is an avid fisherman and a science teacher in Centre County.  We have two daughters, Cora (5),  and Isla (2).
