The Power of Public Art

With the help of local artist, William Snyder, students transformed the existing school mural to reflect equity and inclusion in the BAMS school community. Snyder visited art class as part of our “Visiting Artists Series” to inspire their journey on public artmaking.

After months of student research, reflection, and sketching the quote; “ We cannot be separated in interest or divided in purpose, we stand together...” was selected by an 8th grader and was woven throughout the painting.

Students found their voice through this meaning-making project and learned  just how much the power of public art and  murals can not only beautify but build community.
